Arctic Ocean diversity (ArcOD)

The Arctic Ocean Biodiversity project is building a centralized database of species level distribution in the Arctic Ocean in order to catalog the species found there. To do this, ArcOD staff consolidate datasets from scientific investigators' notebooks and publications.

ArcOD creates the datasets and associated metadata (details about each dataset) and pass both to us to process. Once we have ingested it into our Data Warehouse (added meta tags to support IOOS core variables, among other value added changes) the datasets are available for the Ocean Biogeographic Information System (OBIS) and the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) to harvest so they may deliver the data through their national web portals.
